Slowly but surely, WrestleMania 34 is shaping up to be the best one yet

A door has closed in the form of Fastlane, so you know what that means, right? We are officially a few weeks away from WrestleMania 34. On April 8 in New Orleans inside the Superdome, history will be made and legends will be born.

It has strangely been an interesting build for this year’s show, as matches are forming with a limited amount of time until The Show of Shows. Maybe the return of monthly duel-branded PPV’s won’t be so much of a bad thing after all. Irregardless, the matches that are set to take place are worth the build, short or not. Several matches have been made official, and WrestleMania 34 is shaping up to be one of the best WrestleMania cards of all time.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

AJ Styles (c) v. Shinsuke Nakamura – WWE Championship

While this isn’t in consideration at the moment, this is the people’s main event. This is the match everyone wanted the minute AJ and Nakamura were signed by WWE. The company has done a great job at keeping these two separate since then, only facing off in either multi-man matches or teaming up.

If you haven’t gotten a chance, now is the time to watch their epic encounter at Wrestle Kingdom 10. It truly is one for the ages, and something WWE hopes to recreate. Just imagine what that WrestleMania entrance will be like for the King of Strong Style. Everything about this gives me goosebumps.

Charlotte (c) v. Asuka – SmackDown Women’s Championship 

If AJ v. Nakamura was considered a dream match, consider this two levels above it. The first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble winner v. the SmackDown Women’s Champion. The Empress of Tomorrow v. The Queen. Title v. Streak. This is what dreams are made of.

Ever since Asuka debuted in NXT in 2015, she has been an unstoppable force. The same could be said for Charlotte when she debuted on the main roster that same year. Match after match, these two have proven that they are the best WWE has to offer, male or female. The pressure is on for a match of epic promotions. Knowing Charlotte’s short history at the Grandest Stage of Them All, that shouldn’t be a problem. Will she truly be the one that is ready for Asuka though?

The Miz (c) v. Seth Rollins v. Finn Balor – Intercontinental Title

WrestleMania plans have a tend to change right up to the event. Rollins was a tag champion while having issues with his replacement partner in Jason Jordan before he got injured. There were multiple plans for the three men in this match before settling with an IC Title match.

While this has been repeated with singles and multi-man matches, these three are truly the best picks to fight one another at WrestleMania. Miz has proven over the years that he is a true workhorse for the company, and WrestleMania has become his playground. Rollins is looking to join his Shield brothers and become an Intercontinental Champion, while Finn is looking for a win at his first WrestleMania. Maybe we will see Demon Finn for the first time since SummerSlam. Now that would be something.

TBD v. TBD – Tournament Final for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship 

Ever since the Cruiserweight Classic blew the minds of wrestling fans everywhere, the 205 Live brand has been in a rut. Since Enzo Amore was released by WWE, the division has seen some new life. Going back to basics, WWE brought in some great performers and an excellent authority figure in Drake Maverick, formerly Rockstar Spud. Over the past few weeks, we have seen some epic matches from some of the best high flying wrestlers in the world.

A tournament final will be held at WrestleMania this year, and the hope is it won’t be on the pre-show like Neville v. Austin Aries was last year. As of this moment, the semifinals feature Roderick Strong v. Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali v. Drew Gulak. Any of these four men could put on a show for the crowd in New Orleans. Whoever is in the finals, they will look to make a statement and prove 205 Live and the cruiserweight’s are alive and well.

Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle v. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

While the introduction of Ronda Rousey to WWE was rough at best, she has slowly gained the interest of her detractors.

When you show her aggressive side, Ronda Rousey is pure money. As green as she is, a tag team match is perfect for her to feel protected in the ring. Forming an Olympic-style team with Kurt Angle might be the best thing for her, as the theme should go over well at WrestleMania.

One of the best duos of the late 90’s to early 2000’s was Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. One of the great rivalries of that time was also HHH against Angle. All these years later and the participants involved still have what it takes. Kurt’s first match at a WrestleMania since WrestleMania 22 in 2006 and Ronda’s move set are two things to look at in this match. While rumors of this being the main event don’t sound sexy, it’s a true moneymaker for WWE.

Brock Lesnar (c) v. Roman Reigns – WWE Universal Title

Ah, a match three years in the making. Almost everyone knew this match was happening for months and WWE didn’t stray away. With Lesnar’s contract expiring soon, don’t be surprised if Roman gets his victory that WWE has been planning for all this time.

With Reigns wrestling every night, it wouldn’t be that bad for the Big Dog to claim the title and give it the respect Lesnar never could.

These don’t sound too shabby. Other matches rumored for the show include blood feuds in Bayley v. Sasha Banks and Kevin Owens v. Sami Zayn. We may also see The Usos finally fight on the main card by defending their Tag Team Titles against The New Day and The Bludgeon Brothers, along with John Cena v. The Undertaker, Alexa Bliss v. Nia Jax and the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. If all goes according to plan, WrestleMania 34 should be a certified classic. More information will be provided as the weeks turn to days.

WrestleMania season is one of the best times to be a pro wrestling fan. If the card is any indication, the WWE Universe should be in for one wild ride.
