Somerset adds outfielder Michael Crouse

28-year-old outfielder Michael Crouse has been signed by the Somerset Patriots and activated for the May 28 game against the Sugar Land Skeeters, according to a release.

Crouse spent three years in the Atlantic League and was an all-star with the New Britain Bees in 2017 where he had a .261 average and a .338 on base percentage.

Most recently, he was with Algodoneros de Union Laguna of the Mexican League where he appeared in 36 games and batted .254 (33-for-130). He had 29 RBI and drew 22 walks.

Crouse spent part of the 2016 season with the Atlantic League’s Lancaster Barnstormers before he was trade to New Britain, according to the release. He stole a league-leading 61 bases over the course of that season.

A 16th-round selection by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008, Crouse played for their Double-A affiliate, the New Hampshire Fish Cats, of the Eastern League in 2014 and appeared in 109 games.

Somerset plays the second of a seven-game series against the Skeeters May 28 at 8:05 pm EST. David Holmberg will made his third start for the Patriots who dropped the series opener 7-6.
