York, PA – The York Revolution (4-4) defeated the Somerset Patriots (6-3) by a score of 4-2 at People’sBank Park Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game set. The Revolution opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Michael Burgess sacrifice fly and a Bryan Pounds RBI double. An Alonzo Harris sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 2nd increased the York lead to 3-0. Somerset responded in the top of the fifth inning with a solo home run from Jerry Sands (1). The former Major Leaguer finished the day 3-4 with a home run, two doubles and two runs scored. “It was great to see Jerry come through today,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “He looked in control, minimized movement, and made solid contact. If we can get him going, that will be a huge part of our offense.” The Revolution later added a run on a Jared Mitchell sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh before a ninth-inning Patriots’ rally fell just short. A run scored in the top of the ninth on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Aharon Eggleston, but the comeback stalled there. Hawtin Buchanan (1-0) earned the win after tossing a scoreless inning of relief. York starter Logan Williamson allowed just one run over 4.1 innings of work before he was removed from the game with an injury. Aaron Laffey (1-1) suffered the loss, yielding three runs on four hits in five innings. Curtis Patch (1) earned the save after he allowed one run in the top of the ninth. Right-handed pitcher Lucas Irvine will take the mound for Somerset in Sunday’s series-finale against York righty Victor Mateo. First pitch at People’sBank Park is set for 1:00 p.m. Tickets to the 2017 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford, which includes the team’s 20th Anniversary, are on sale now.
