Somerset Patriots Reliever Buddy Boshers Signed By Minnesota Twins

bosherswebBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that reliever Buddy Boshers has been signed by the Minnesota Twins and has received a major league spring training invite with the organization.

Boshers was the 2015 Atlantic League Relief Pitcher of the Year, finishing with a 1.00 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched over 52 games.

“We are very happy for Buddy and this opportunity to make it back to the majors. He had a tremendous year for us and was an integral part in our bullpen’s success in late game situations. He put in the time and effort to improve everyday and showed he can compete at the high level expected in the Atlantic League. He’s a perfect example of showing how that can translate to opportunities with major league teams. We wish him the best of luck with the Twins,” said Somerset Patriots Manager Brett Jodie.

Prior to joining the Somerset Patriots in 2015, Boshers had Major League time. In 2013, the southpaw reliever appeared in 25 games for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, striking out 13 batters in 15.1 innings of work.

The Huntsville, Alabama native has eight years of professional baseball experience, all in the Angels organization before coming to Somerset.

In 2014, Boshers split time between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Salt Lake, with a combined 3.28 ERA over 40 appearances (eight starts) with 82 strikeouts in 74 innings of work.

The former fourth-round draft pick from Calhoun Community College owns a career 36-17 record with a 3.38 ERA and 606 strikeouts in 362 appearances.

He is the seventh player that spent time with the Patriots during the 2015 season to be signed by a major league organization, joining Edwin Quirarte (San Francisco Giants), Mickey Storey (Los Angeles Dodgers), Chris Marrero (Chicago White Sox), Sean Bierman (Baltimore Orioles), Lucas Irvine (Arizona Diamondbacks), and Connor Little (Minnesota Twins).

The Somerset Patriots won their Atlantic League leading sixth championship during the 2015 season. The schedule for 2016 has been released and can be viewed at www.somersetpatriots.com.
