Baseball Somerset Patriots Sign Eight-Year MLB Veteran Pitcher Kyle Davies by Somerset Patriots May 7, 2018 Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that the team has signed right-handed pitcher Kyle Davies, an eight-year veteran of Major League Baseball. Davies enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. His MLB career features service with the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals, and New York Yankees. Originally drafted by Atlanta in the fourth round of the 2001 MLB Draft, Davies made his Major League debut against the Boston Red Sox at the age of 21 on May 21, 2005. In the game, Davies pitched five innings, allowed four hits, no earned runs, and struck out six batters to earn the win. The Decatur, Georgia native’s Big League career includes 770.1 innings pitched over 152 games (144 starts) and 547 strikeouts. He last appeared at the Major League level in 2015 with the Yankees. In addition to his Major League service, Davies has nine seasons at the Triple-A level and an impressive 38-25 record, 3.21 ERA, and 370 strikeouts in 504.2 innings pitched over 93 games. For his minor league career, Davies has a 76-48 record, a 3.08 ERA and 893 strikeouts in 1,035 innings pitched in 197 games. Davies played in Japan in 2016 and for the Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre in 2015, where he finished 11-8 with a 3.30 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 152.2 innings pitched.
