Baseball Somerset Patriots Sign RHP Zech Zinicola by Somerset Patriots August 10, 2018 Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Zech Zinicola. Zinicola enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and was already in his third season in the Atlantic League, having played for the Sugar Land Skeeters (2016-2017) and also the Road Warriors earlier this season. In 19 games with the Road Warriors this year, Zinicola had a 4.98 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched. The Loma Linda, California native appeared in 70 games with the Skeeters over the last two seasons, finishing with a 2.93 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched during the 2016 campaign. Zinicola was drafted in the sixth round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft by the Washington Nationals organization, where he spent seven seasons to start his professional career. Zinicola has eight seasons of minor league service, including four seasons at Triple-A. In addition to time with the Nationals organization, Zinicola has a season of Double-A experience with the Baltimore Orioles. For his career, Zinicola has a 3.86 ERA, 79 saves, and 502 strikeouts in 590 innings pitched in 480 games. He has been activated for Somerset’s game on Friday night against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
