Pro Wrestling Mickie James returns to face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Title at NXT TakeOver: Toronto by Daniel Yanofsky October 13, 2016 When WWE tapes episodes of NXT, many spoilers can be leaked at any given time. That is one of the drawbacks of a taped show; the element of surprise is gone. Sometimes, the spoilers will entice you into watching the show anyway. That is what WWE has masterfully done. Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James was announced as the newest opponent against NXT Women’s Champion Asuka. She will fight for the title at NXT TakeOver: Toronto on November 19th. WWE made the official announcement on Instagram. httpss://www.instagram.com/p/BLheh_zBK9o/ Over the past few weeks, Asuka has claimed there is no one on the NXT roster worthy enough to challenge her. In a nice change of pace, WWE has brought back an iconic woman from their past to step up to the challenge. James last wrestled for WWE in 2010 before being released from the company. Her feud with Trish Stratus was legendary for its creativity and excellent matches. After WWE, James wrestled for TNA and has been a prominent member of the independent scene. She has also recorded two country albums. With a lot of green talent in their women’s division, bringing in Mickie James to NXT was the right call. It is unknown how long she will stay with NXT for, or if there is a plan for a main roster return. Regardless, seeing her back in a WWE ring (via NXT) will definitely bring back a lot of good memories. I know I’m excited for some “Hardcore Country”, are you?
