St. John’s Making Moves Within Their Men’s Basketball Staff

The Johnnies have much to look forward to for their upcoming 2015-2016 basketball season. Coach Chris Mullin has been making many changes and adding a bunch of new staff to the board, in hopes of having a very successful season.

St. John’s announced Wednesday that they have hired Dan Matic as the new Director of Basketball Operations and Dru Anthrop as the team’s new graduate assistant, for the men’s team. After two years as an assistant coach at South Alabama, Matic returns to his native New York. Anthrop recently spent the past two years as film coordinator for the Indiana Pacers organization.

Matic has a variety of experience from the NCAA Division 1, Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), junior college and international levels, which he is now bringing to St. John’s. He will be providing day-to-day administrative support within the program. He has many responsibilities including coordinating travel, the team’s calendar, game day operations, and community service. Matic was also an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Eastern Illinois for the 2012-2013 season. He began his collegiate coaching career at Olney Central College in Olney, Ill in 2012-2013.

A four-year letter winner and team captain at Purdue, Anthrop was part of three NCAA Tournament teams (’10,’11,’12) and won a Big Ten Championship (’10).He was one of the only six Big Ten players to be named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court in 2011-2012. He also has received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award (’13). His last two years spent with the Indiana Pacers was as a film coordinator.
