Chris Flexen pitched eight scoreless innings Monday to lead the St. Lucia Mets to a 2-0 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Flexen threw 95 pitches, 71 for strikes, while scattering eight hits to go along with four strikeouts and no walks.

The Mets had 11 hits but scored the only two runs of the game in the 3rd inning. They loaded the bases with two singles and a walk. Then Champ Stewart hit an RBI single into right field, scoring Luis Guillorme. Amed Rosario followed the hit up with an RBI ground out to first base scoring Jhoan Urena.

These two runs would prove to be enough as Flexen improved to 5-6 on the year with a 3.35 ERA.

Ben Griset came in to pick up his second save of the year with a 1-2-3 9th inning. The St. Lucie Mets improved to 34-31 and remain 2nd in the Florida State League South standings.

Tuesday, Scarlyn Reyes takes the mound. He is 3-7 with a 6.19 ERA on the year and is looking to continue the Mets winning ways.
