Baseball Staten Island Yankees Enter Penn League Playoffs As Wild Card by Staff Post September 6, 2016 (Photo by Double G Media) With a win over Tri-City Saturday night , the Staten Island Yankees clinched the lone wild card spot. The Yankees will face State College, Wednesday Night, to start their 3-game set. After losing the first two games vs Tri-City, the Yankees were able to bounce back nicely, defeating them 5-4. Blaser and Bridges would lead the Yankees to victory, each driving in a few runs. Angel Aguilar would also homer, while Nick Solak continued his terrific season with a RBI double. Solak finished the season hitting .322 which was top 10 in the league. Chad Martin would receive the win, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing only two runs. He finishes the year 4-0, with a 2.73 era. Kolton Mahoney will get the call for game 1 at Richmond County Ballpark. The Yankees look to continue their success in the post-season and deliver another Penn League trophy to Staten Island.
