On Wednesday, May 24, the Staten Island Yankees announced through their Twitter account details to their latest initiative for the 2017 season. Six of their home games will be their “Made In America” games which will have giveaways of items made in the United States. Their explanation for this act as stated in their website is to help the local economy “When money is exchanged closer to home it increases local economic impact exponentially. In addition to increasing that impact for our community, we take pride in being a promotional vehicle in our marketplace, throughout Minor League Baseball and nationally.” To add on, the Staten Island Yankees will be wearing special jerseys on the field during the six games. Those jerseys will be part of an auction at the last game of the special Made In America series which will take place on Friday, August 25. The following dates will be the days in which the “Made In American” games will take place: The first game of the Made In America will be Opening Day, Monday June 19. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a free Made in America replica jersey. Tuesday July 4, The first 1,000 adults in attendance will get a free BBQ apron. Saturday July 8, The first 1,750 fans in attendance will get a free Made in America T-shirt. Saturday July 22, The first 1,000 adults in attendance will get a free sci-fi novelty item. It was stated by the Staten island Yankees that the replica jersey, apron, and sci-fi novelty item are made in Brooklyn by Park Antony. Every Made in America game will be follow-up by post game fireworks. Ticketing wise the following information was released by the Staten Island Yankees: Fans wishing to attend all six games can take advantage of our new six-game Made in America mini-plan for only $120. Each plan includes a $60 food & beverage card, one New York Yankees ticket, mini-plan holder gift, and more.
