Staten Island Yankees Start Season With Back-to-Back Extra Inning Wins

After a grueling 20 inning victory over the Cyclones at MCU Park on Friday Night, the Staten Island Yankees hosted their home opener last night.

This one proved to be a good one, as it turned out to be another extra inning game. The Yankees were able to get the victory 2-1, in 10 innings after Kane Sweeney singled to bring Dalton Blaser home from second. Sweeney was 2 for 4 on the night, including a double. He also scored the tying run in, in the bottom of the 4th inning. Dalton Blaser continued swinging the bat well going 2 for 4 and increasing his batting average to .600.

On the pitching side, Drew Finley and Josh Roeder combined to no hit the Cyclones. Drew Finley pitched six great innings, however got the no decision. Josh Roeder pitched four innings and struck out 10 batters in his first win of the season. Overall, the two combined for 15 strikeouts. Overall, the Yankees pitching staff has looked great so far, only allowing 3 runs in 30 innings pitched.

The Yankees will be back in action on Father’s Day vs. Aberdeen. Anyelo Gomez will get start. Gametime is set for 4 P.M.
