Baseball Stormers Take Series Opener by Somerset Patriots August 27, 2019 Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Lancaster Barnstormers (18-25, 42-71) defeated the Somerset Patriots (17-27, 59-55) 3-2 on Monday night at TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots began the scoring in the first inning of the contest. Alfredo Rodriguez singled with one out and stole second. Later in the inning, Jimmy Parades drove in Rodriguez with a two-out RBI double. The Barnstormers struck back when Melvin Mercedes drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the second inning to tie the game at one. In the third inning, K.C. Hobson (15) powered a home run to right field that gave the ‘Stormers a 2-1 lead. Michael Crouse singled to right field with an out in the fourth and later in the inning stole both second and third base. Crouse scampered home on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning to tie the game 2-2. Joe Terdoslavich began the sixth with a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a two-base throwing error from pitcher Jeff Kinley. Destin Hood, the very next batter, grounded out to third and drove in the run to set the ‘Stormers ahead 3-2. Somerset threatened over the final three innings but ultimately fell short. Nate Reed (4-2) earned the victory pitching five innings and allowing two runs on five hits. With the win, Reed owns the all-time wins record in Barnstormers’ franchise history. Kinley (0-1) yielded one unearned run over two innings of relief to get saddled with the loss. The 2019 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues at TD Bank Ballpark tomorrow night as the Patriots continue their series against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
