Super Bowl LIV Prop Bet Preview

With the Kobe Bryant tragedy over the weekend and the Astros cheating scandal taking up most of the airwaves and newspapers (rightfully so), Super Bowl LIV is just around the corner with the Big Game coming on Sunday, February 2nd.  Super Bowl Sunday is an American tradition, with food and beer being passed around and lots of bets coming both in-house and out-of-house.

One of the favorite parts of the Super Bowl used to be the commercials, but now it’s the sometimes wacky prop bets that are on the table.  Here at Double G Sports we like to have a little fun and give a full preview of the top prop bets for the game.  Let’s take a look at the list;

Opening Line – Kansas City -1

The toughest bet of the night might be who wins this game.  Kansas City is the home team and with their explosive offense they have a chance to be the next “Greatest Show on Turf”.  Patrick Mahomes will lead the Chiefs and will be the main X-Factor in this game.

It’s the battle of two coaches who have never been able to get over the hump.  Andy Reid is known both as a great head coach and also a choke artist.  Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons team that blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl two years ago.

For this one, it all depends on how the line moves throughout the week.  If Kansas City is favored any more than three points, take the points and the Niners.  If it stays around the 1-2 point mark, take Kansas City.  I foresee Kansas City winning this game in a nailbiter and I’m sure many people will be on the edge of their seats by the time the fourth quarter rolls around.

Over/Under – 52.5

As of Monday night, the Over/Under is set at 52.5 points.  As Big Cat of Barstool Sports says, life is too short to bet the under.  However, it may not be the high scoring affair that everyone thinks, regardless of how good San Francisco has been running the ball and how dynamic the Chiefs are on offense.

A 53 point game would be a 27-26 game, which is a weird score but anything can happen in the Super Bowl.  It doesn’t need to be that score but if the game is to remain close like most bettors are predicting, it’ll be somewhere around there.

I can’t see this going under.  The Chiefs have very rarely scored less than 24 points, so unless their defense completely shuts down a talented San Fran rushing attack, it’s going to go over the 52.5 points.

Demi Lovato National Anthem Over/Under – 2:00 Minutes

Demi Lovato is on the road to redemption.  After nearly dying from an overdose just a few months ago, she is back stronger than ever.  Lovato performed an emotional opening song at the 2020 Grammy Awards and is looking to continue that trend on February 2nd.

Look for Lovato to go over the 2:00 minute mark.  Not only is the National Anthem always an emotional performance, but Lovato will most certainly want to show off the incredible set of pipes she has.  Look for her to extend the last bars of the anthem to get it over the mark.

Coin Toss

San Francisco is the visiting team.  Tails never fails.

Team to score first

Being that the 49ers will win hopefully win the coin toss with the pick of tails, they’ll most likely defer.  Kansas City will start off with the ball and drive down the field and score.

Unlike the AFC Divisional and Championship games, the Chiefs will get off to a hot start.  If the Chiefs are to win the Super Bowl they absolutely cannot get behind the eight ball like they did against Houston and Tennessee.

Jersey number of first player to score – Over/Under 26.5

This one is a crapshoot.  Really the only way that this goes over is if one of the tight ends or Raheem Mostert scores the first touchdown.  Safe money is on the under for the obvious reason that most of the skill players on each team have numbers under 27.

The following players on each team have numbers under 27;

Patrick Mahomes (10)

Jimmy Garoppolo (10)

Tevin Coleman (26)

Damien Williams (26)

LeSean McCoy (25)

Tyreek Hill (10)

Sammy Watkins (14)

Mecole Hardman (17)

Deebo Samuel (14)

Emannuel Sanders (11)

Game tied after 0-0

One of the more intriguing bets is the bet that the game will be tied again after starting 0-0.  If you think that these teams will trade scores back and forth, take the bet.  However, be wary of the missed extra point or safety that throws off the scoring balance of the game.

Wardrobe changes for Jennifer Lopez – Over/Under 2.5

Jennifer Lopez is a great performer and also full of herself.  She’s a showwoman and at the end of the day wants to put on a great halftime show with Shakira.  It’s an easy over 2.5 for one of the glitziest performers of our generation.

Longest touchdown – Over/Under 44.5 yards

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the stingiest defenses in the league.  However, all it takes is one Tyreek Hill catch or Shady McCoy run for the over to hit.

On the other side, the 49ers don’t have too many dynamic wide receivers on their side but they do have Raheem Mostert.  Mostert isn’t a burner but has shown that he can hit the hole just as good as anyone.  I think Hill is going to get one over on the Niners defense and go for 60 yards.

Pass attempts by player – Over/Under 2.5

This prop bet comes down to one thing;  Do we believe that a wide receiver will throw a pass?  We’ve seen it before with Tyreek Hill.  Can anyone other than Jimmy G throw for the Niners?  Take the under as this bet is only on there because of the Philly Special a few seasons ago.

Which team will score last?

The team with the ball last will score to win the game.  Take the Chiefs.

Super Bowl MVP – Patrick Mahomes or the field?

Patrick Mahomes is the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP.  Take the field though because I have a feeling that Tyreek Hill is going to have a big day.
