Baseball Tampa Yankees In Midst of Series With First Place Threshers by Staff Post May 5, 2016 The Tampa Yankees (15-9) came into the current series one game back, behind only the Clearwater Threshers (16-8). This six game series against the division leading Threshers didn’t start out the T-Yanks way, dropping the first game at home 6-2. They came back the next day and dimmed the lights at Bright House Field with a 10th inning run, closing the books 6-5, evening up Tampa’s McNamara 1-1 and giving Threshers Hockenberry, his first loss. The Yankees were getting it done with their bats, hitting three home-runs by three different players (Mateo, Andujar, Avelino). Game three would have to wait, being postponed do to extreme rain and lighting lasting through out the day. The rain must of washed off the sweet spot, because the T-yanks couldn’t find it through the first four innings, while allowing back to back runs in the 3rd and 4th, before gifting four more runs in the 5th. The Yankees tried to get things going in the bottom of the 5th, bringing in two runs and another two in the 7th. But after trading a run each in the 8th for one of their own in the 9th, it was not enough, dropping the third game 5-7. They will close out the series, hoping to string together victories to top the Threshers in the series and tie them up in the standings. With Clarkin on the mound for game 4, and home field advantage, things are looking up, lets just hope vision doesn’t get cloudy, because in Tampa clouds mean rain.
