TD Bank Ballpark Named Atlantic League Ballpark Of The Year

ballparknewsBridgewater, NJ – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball has named TD Bank Ballpark, the home of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club, as the 2015 Ballpark of the Year. The result was based on a unanimous vote from league managers and executives.

The Somerset Patriots welcomed over 370,000 fans and 5,200 fans per game to TD Bank Ballpark this season. In August, the team reached their 6,000,000th fan attending a Somerset Patriots game at the Bridgewater-based ballpark.

Earlier this year, TD Bank Ballpark was named Ballpark Digest’s “Best Independent Minor League Ballpark” in the country.

Ballpark Digest’s “Best Of The Ballparks” competition put minor league venues against each other in their given classifications- Independent, Triple-A, Double-A, High-A, Low-A, Short Season-A, Rookie, and Summer Collegiate- to determine by fan voting the “best of the best.” TD Bank Ballpark won the voting over CHS Field, the brand new $64 million home of the St. Paul Saints in Minnesota, in the final round.

“We are proud that our home, TD Bank Ballpark, received these tremendous honors this season. The ballpark showcases the hard work of our front office staff, tireless grounds crew, and the vision of our ownership and the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders to bring baseball to Bridgewater. Most of all, this award is a reflection of the best fans in all of minor league baseball. They have chosen to spend their time with family, friends, and co-workers at TD Bank Ballpark and made it their home away from home during the season,” said Patrick McVerry, President/General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

It is the second time that TD Bank Ballpark has been named Ballpark of the Year by the Atlantic League, last receiving the honor in 2007.

TD Bank Ballpark, the “Jewel of the Atlantic League,” officially opened its gates in June of 1999, and has been the premier family and community destination in Central New Jersey since that time.

The 6,100-seat ballpark is owned by Somerset County and managed by the Somerset Patriots, who have averaged over 5,200 fans per game and 370,000 fans per season since 1999.

The Somerset Patriots won their Atlantic League leading sixth Championship during the 2015 season. The schedule for 2016 is currently in the works and will be announced in the coming weeks. For more information about the 2016 season, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
