Temple Men’s basketball will take part in the awareness fundraiser. All NCAA coaches participating including the Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy and his staff, will honor the organization by wearing blue puzzle piece lapel pins at their game against Memphis on Saturday (1:00 pm ET/ESPNews/1210 AM WPHT). The Coaches Powering Forward for Autism campaign was inspired by NCAA Men’s basketball coaches Pat Skerry of Towson and Tom Herrion of Georgia Tech, whose sons were both diagnosed with autism. For the second consecutive year the campaign has organized a weekend to raise awareness. Temple Owls not only participate, but also lead Division I schools in member engagement and rank third in money raised by the organization for Autism Awareness. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are a group of complex disorders of brain development that impact a person’s ability to communicate and socialize. In 2005, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, was founded and has been dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention and treatment. We greatly encourage all who can, to support the cause in some way. You can learn more about Autism Speaks by clicking HERE.
