Temple Men’s Basketball prepares for 2017-2018 Season

The long awaited moment is here. After months of following the Temple University Men’s Basketball team in the offseason, the start of the 2017-2018 season is finally here. The Owls kick off their season with an exhibition game against Jefferson University. The game against Jefferson, formerly known as Philadelphia University and Jefferson University, will tipoff at the Liacouras Center on Thursday, November 9. at 7:30 pm. It is the first chance for the public to see Fran Dunphy’s Owls led by three seniors and his roster featuring four freshmen additions. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the nonprofit organization, One America Appeal, to support those that have been impacted by the recent hurricanes in Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico.

Ticket sales will go towards relief efforts. As a way to also contribute to the Hurricane relief efforts, The Temple play-by-play announcer Kevin Copp and color analyst John Baum will donate their game checks to One America Appeal. It is a good chance to see this year’s roster as they prepare to start their regular season. The first official game of the season tips off at the Gildan Charleston Classic on Thursday, Nov. 16 as the Owls face off against Old Dominion in South Carolina. The game will air on ESPN3 and 1210 AM WPHT. Depending on the result of the first game, Temple will then play either Auburn or Indiana State in their second matchup of the season.

The Gildan Charleston Classic is the first game of a five-game road stretch, which includes a game at Madison Square Garden against the University of South Carolina, who is fresh off their 2017 Final Four run. Temple fans will have to wait until Wednesday, December 6th to see the Owls’ in the Liacouras Center again, in their home opener against Wisconsin.
