Temple’s Isaiah Wright Among College Football’s Most Versatile Players

Last season, Temple wide receiver Isaiah Wright became the sixth FBS player in the last decade to score five different ways during a season (receiving, rushing, passing, punt return and kick return). On Thursday, the junior was named to the 2018 watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, given annually to the most versatile college football player in the country.

In 2017, Wright led the Owls in receptions (46) and finished second on the team in receiving yards with 668. He also rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown.

On the season, Wright scored seven touchdowns and recorded 1,289 total all-purpose yards.

Wright is the sixth Temple player to be named to a preseason award watch list this summer, joining running back Ryquell Armstead (Doak Walker Award), center Matt Hennessy (Rimington Award), quarterback Frank Nutile (Maxwell Award, Wuerffel Award), safety Delvon Randall (Bednarik Award, Nagurski Trophy, Thorpe Award), and tight end Kenny Yeboah (John Mackey Award).

The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner presented by Jewish Hospital Sports Medicine, to be held at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville in March 2019.

Saquon Barkley, the 2017 Paul Hornung Award winner, was the second pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.
