College Temple’s Winning Streak Advances to Three by Staff Post February 1, 2015 Rich Schultz /Getty Images Temple Men’s Basketball team advances to 15-7, 6-3 with a 55-37 win over Tulane last night. The Owls have been outstanding defensively helping them get off to an early lead against opponents. The defensive effort continued last night as Temple got off to a hot start with a 12-0 run in the first four minutes. They held Tulane to a record low eight points and a 12.5 shooting percentage in the first half. For the first time since the 1993-1994 season, Temple held two opponents to under 40 points in a single season. Tulane’s 37 point game matches the lowest score for an opponent since Fran Dunphy began coaching at Temple. Three players finished in double figures for Temple. Junior guard Quenton DeCosey led the team with 17 points as he went 3 –of- 4 from the three point line in the first half. Senior Will Cummings tallied 13 points, putting him just 14 away from scoring his 1,000thcareer point. Freshman forward Obi Enechionya finished with 12 points off the bench. Junior forward Jaylen Bond, who leads the conference in rebounding, had another strong game on the boards as he grabbed 10 rebounds. It was a tough day for the Green Wave offensively. None of their five starters scored a single point in the first half. It was not until with 17 minutes left in the game that Tulane finally reached double digits. They went on a 12-0 run, cutting the deficit down to 13 points, but it was not enough. Louis Dabney was the lone Green Wave to reach double figures. Kaion Mack added seven points off the bench.
