Hockey The Perfect 10; Bardreau leads the way for Isles in tenth straight victory by Chris Passarelli November 6, 2019 It doesn’t matter who has been on the Islanders’ schedule, nor who has been on the team. They continue to win and Tuesday night they extended their winning streak to ten with a victory over the Ottawa Senators, 4-1. It was a game the Islanders should have won and they did convincingly, even if they made a rare mistake. Midway through the first period, the Islanders not only wasted a Power Play but fumbled the puck behind the net and gave a goal away as J.G. Pageau tucked one past Thomas Greiss. This Islanders’ group is resilient and 39 seconds later the game was tied on a Cal Clutterbuck wrister from right outside the crease. The game shifted when longtime AHLer Cole Bardreau got yet another breakaway. Even though he failed to score, Bardreau drew a penalty shot. Bardreau went five hole and beat Craig Anderson for the first goal of his NHL career. He becomes just the fifth player in NHL history to score his first on a penalty shot. The Islanders completely hounded the Sens from that point forward. They actually got a shorthanded goal back, as Cal Clutterbuck stole the puck in the defensive zone, worked his way into the slot and fed a perfect pass to Casey Cizikas. Cizikas sniped one past Anderson on the kill and demoralized the Senators. Just a minute later, Noah Dobson threw a wrist shot at the net, which was deflected by Josh Bailey into the net. The Islanders played the rest of the third period conservatively, and rightly so. It wasn’t necessarily an easy victory but the Isles utterly dominated the entire third period. It was yet another impressive victory in a 25 day winning streak.
