New York/New Jersey metropolitan golf fans are in for a treat next year as the Presidents Cup inches closer to teeing off.

The Presidents Cup and the PGA TOUR unveiled plans for a Fan Experience at The Oculus at the World Trade Center during the 2017 event at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey on Sept. 26-Oct. 1, it was announced today at the event’s Captains Day.

And it’s all FREE.

In partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Westfield Brand Ventures and produced in conjunction with Lagardère Sports, the Presidents Cup Fan Experience will be open to the public from Tuesday through Sunday of tournament week and will feature a variety of activities, with no ticket required.

Here’s a sample of what to expect:

44 Million Yard Challenge: The culmination of a mobile, interactive engagement for New York and New Jersey residents, taking place in the weeks leading up to the Presidents Cup; at the Oculus, participants will complete the challenge of joining together to collectively drive a golf ball around the world and generate money for charity.

4D Immersive Dome Experience: An opportunity for fans to experience iconic New York/New Jersey locales from the perspective of a golf ball of a Presidents Cup participant.

Global Tasting Adventure: Celebrating the global reach of the event and its players, fans can enjoy the delicacies from around the world and from the home countries of Presidents Cup participants.

Interactive programming: Fans will have the opportunity to see and hear live updates from Liberty National Golf Club; take part in potential meet-and-greets and autograph signings with dignitaries from the world of golf; and track social engagements and fan moments captured on state-of-the-art LED screens, including a 6-foot globe that follows the 44 Million Yard Challenge.

Official merchandise: The Presidents Cup Fan Experience will be the only location where fans see and touch – and purchase – limited-edition merchandise, outside of Liberty National;  LACOSTE, official apparel provider of the Presidents Cup, will be prominently featured in the event space as well, where they recently opened a new store.

“On behalf of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, I would like to say how excited we are to be part of the 2017 Presidents Cup,” said Patrick Foye, Executive Director, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.  “Last April, PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem spoke of this becoming the biggest event in the history of international golf.  Today, we are seeing that become a reality.  The off-course activities at the World Trade Center will be an important contributing factor to the success of this global event.  The attention of the New York/New Jersey region will turn to the Presidents Cup, including the Fan Experience in the Oculus, where thousands of people a day will interact with the event.  We are also grateful that the attention of the global sports world will be directed to the World Trade Center and the rebirth of this important and iconic site.”

The Oculus opened in August and is already considered the new icon of lower Manhattan, if not the city itself. It serves at the centerpiece of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, incorporating 450,000 square feet of multi-level, state-of-the-art retail and dining.  The World Trade Center Transportation Hub’s concourse connects visitors to 11 different subway lines; the PATH rail system; the National September 11 Memorial & Museum; World Trade Center Towers 1, 3 and 4; and Brookfield Place (formerly known as the World Financial Center), which houses the Winter Garden. It represents the most integrated network of underground pedestrian connections in New York City.
