NEWS The Rock Confirms XFL Return in 2022 by Candace Cordelia October 1, 2020 A new reboot of the XFL may still be in the oven, but Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed that American football league will return fully cooked in 2022. Thursday morning he tweeted, “XFL returns SPRING 2022. As owners, we’re proud to champion XFL players, coaches, cities and fans into an electrifying 2022 season! It’s an uphill battle — but we’re hungry, humble and no one will outwork us. The clip shows images of XFL league players behind-the-scenes, training and playing on the football field. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFzNsBqldrL/?utm_source=ig_embed Johnson, along with ex-wife Dany Garcia, are co-owners of the XFL. As previously reported, Johnson, Garcia and private equity investment firm RedBird Capital bought the XFL months after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April. Johnson’s former boss, WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon founded the football league. It was confirmed by ESPN that the sale of the XFL to Johnson, Garcia and RedBird Capital was officially approved August 7 in a Delaware bankruptcy court.
