The top free agent target for the New York Jets

We’ve gone over it ad nauseam about the Jets’ season.  It was very disappointing and that’s why Todd Bowles was fired.  They have a lot of young talent there, but they still have a lot of holes on their roster and they’re quite honestly overrated in a few areas.  They hopefully have the quarterback of the future in Sam Darnold, they have a decent running game, and they have some nice pieces on defense, more specifically in the secondary.

However, they’re SEVERELY lacking is some other areas.  Their offensive line is mediocre at best, their defensive line is probably the most overrated in the league, and they don’t have a true number one, or for that matter number two wide receiver.  There’s a lot of work to be done, but there’s one stud player that the Jets need to go after immediately.

This player is currently the best player on a decent New England defense.  His name is Trey Flowers, and if the Jets don’t at least take a flier on him they’re not doing their due diligence.  He’s not talked about like Khalil Mack and J.J. Watt because he isn’t a game breaker, but he’s rated as the third best in the league behind those two All-Pros.  He gets overlooked in New England because when was the last time the Patriots were known for their defense?

He’s only 26 years old, has a current cap hit of $2M, and the Jets can break the bank on him to finally have that stud pass rusher they haven’t had since John Abraham.  Leonard Williams isn’t cutting it anymore.  Snacks Harrison has been long gone, Mo Wilkerson played himself out of New York, and based on Mike Maccagnan’s draft record you can’t trust him to take the right guy.  Flowers is the perfect fit and will do wonders for that young secondary that got hung out to dry by the lack of pass rush.
