The WWE Has Loose Ends To Tie Up Before WrestleMania 31

Wrestling fans are anxiously looking forward to the biggest event of the year WrestleMania.

As we move into the early days March, wrestling fans are anxiously looking forward to the biggest event of the year WrestleMania. This is the 31st installment of the sports entertainment spectacle and although it seemed just a month ago that the WWE and the creative team had no clue, the card for the event is slowly but surely coming along. The main event is set (I’ll get to that later) but there are some other question marks surrounding WrestleMania that hopefully will be answered in the coming weeks.

There are four major questions that are still out there that fans are looking for answers for. This article will explore those questions and what the answers could be. Remember, these are predictions and not fact. The picture for the show will clear up completely but for now these are the four things that many are wondering about.

Will The WWE Actually Hold The Undertaker Out Until March 29?

The rumor around the internet is that the WWE will hold “The Deadman” out until the night of WrestleMania 31 in California. With the amazing promo work of Bray Wyatt carrying the feud, there really is no reason for the company to rush Taker back before the show. However Vince McMahon is an extremely fickle decision maker so if a Monday Night Raw rating falls slightly in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, McMahon may decide to make that final Raw before the PPV a major sell show and have the Undertaker make an appearance. Frankly, I see the latter happening and fans seeing The Undertaker before WrestleMania is likely to happen.

How Big Will The Intercontinental Title Ladder Match Actually Be?

It was announced last week that there would a multi-man Ladder Match for the long neglected Intercontinental Championship. We knew that Bad News Barrett and Dean Ambrose would compete but in the last few days, it was announced that Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and Luke Harper would join in on the fun. With the way the storyline is setting up, it also looks that Daniel Bryan, creaky neck and all, will be thrown into the ladder match along with StarDust as well.

Since this is the first ladder match since WrestleMania XXVI, people are really pumped about it. The fact that it is featuring the Intercontinental Title, which pretty much means nothing after the WWE diminished its worth, also has the fans excited and thinking back to the glory days of the IC Title from years back. The more people in this match the better. Not only will you have an entertaining match, you have the opportunity to begin numerous feuds based on this one match alone. This match may be the show stealer of the night.

Why Are They Bothering With The Andre The Giant Battle Royal?

The idea for WrestleMania 30 was smart. Andre and Hulk helped make WrestleMania a household event so for the 30th anniversary of the show, they should have a match commemorating the memory of the big man. Cesaro won the match and many thought that a major push for “The King of Swing” was on the horizon. They even put him with Paul Heyman which had everyone thinking that WrestleMania 31 would be the show where Cesaro would be showcased. Well…that didn’t exactly happen.

The Cesaro pushed lasted a few months and he is now a Tag Team champion with Tyson Kidd. The end result of the battle royal just left a bad taste in the mouth of fans and frankly, can you blame them? This year the names that are already announced are ghastly. Esteemed names like Fandango and Adam Rose have thrown their names into the match along with The Miz and Curtis Axel. This match is screaming for a returning Sheamus to come in and win but in the end, who cares? Will they use this match to build someone for the future? Hopefully that is the case but it’s most likely time filler and nothing of much consequence will come from the match. I will be waiting for the Paige/AJ Lee vs. Bella Twins match and using the battle royal as my food and bathroom break.

What The Hell Is Going On With The Brock Lesnar/Roman Reigns Match?

Two weeks ago it was widely reported that Lesnar and Vince McMahon had a loud and aggressive argument over something. There were crazy rumors but the consensus is that it was concerning a possible new contract for Lesnar through next year’s WrestleMania. The argument was so heated that some members of WWE creative have been thinking about possible Plan B’s in case Lesnar no-shows WrestleMania which is highly unlikely.

So now that we know that Lesnar will show up, his future with the company is up in the air which makes the WWE World Heavyweight Title match intriguing. While there is a chance that this could be Lesnar’s last match in the WWE, the fans in attendance may also believe this and begin to cheer Reigns. In the last couple of weeks, we have heard more and more cheers for Reigns in arenas after being booed out of Philadelphia at the Royal Rumble. The fact is that this match is becoming more interesting as we get closer to the show and Paul Heyman is only adding to the intrigue after his promo on Monday night.

I said weeks ago that Heyman could sell this match given two months from the Rumble. The passion Heyman got out of Reigns sitting next t Lesnar during the Raw studio snow show was epic but instead of following up, the WWE squandered it and made Reigns fight for the WM match. Now that we know the main event, Heyman is carrying the feud by giving amazing promos. It also seems that Heyman is rubbing off on Reigns as his promo work has gotten better in the last few weeks. There are a lot of moving parts for this match and I will say this…this may be the first world title match I am really looking forward to at a WrestleMania in years.
