Baseball Three key moments of Yankees ALDS Game 1 Loss The Indians grabbed the early series advantage after shutting out the Yankees in Game 1 by Lori Perdichizzi October 6, 2017 The Cleveland Indians did not hold back as they shut down the New York Yankees lineup at Progressive Field, Thursday evening in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. Indians pitching was in command all night as Cleveland (1-0) took the early series advantage. Let’s take a look at three key moments of the game…. First Indians starter, Trevor Bauer, was on fire. Never in trouble on the mound. With a slick curveball, a good fastball, Bauer completed 5.1 innings, with eight strikeouts and only one walk. Indians manager Terry Francona may have had Cleveland fans nervous when he announced his rotation, but it looks like he made the right choice. Aaron Hicks doubled off the left-field wall with one out in the sixth to end Bauer’s hot streak. But, let’s not give all the credit to the pitchers. Second The one-man show, Jay Bruce, made contact three times. Three times! Giving the Yankees a fair share of what they were missing. Bruce hit a two-run homer, had three RBI and scored twice. The Yankees bullpen didn’t stand a chance. Even Aaron Judge couldn’t catch a break going 0 for 4 for the night with four strikeouts. Facing the Indians Friday in Game 2 of the ALDS, with CC Sabathia on the mound, the Yankees hope to move forward and even the series.
