College Three Metro Area Teams Ranked in Initial DII Football Regional Rankings New Haven, LIU Post, and West Chester in first regional rankings of 2018. by Gregg Snyder October 23, 2018 The first DII football regional rankings of the year were released this week and three Metropolitan area schools are in the Top 10. The University of New Haven comes in at No. 3 in the NCAA Super Region One. LIU Post is No. 5 while West Chester University is at No. 6. All three are currently undefeated in-region. New Haven sits behind Notre Dame (OH) and Kutztown. The regional rankings help to determine the seven teams selected that will make up the Super Region One bracket for the NCAA Division II Championship. The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on NCAA.com as part of a selection show on Sunday, November 11. Despite New Haven having the higher regional ranking, they do not appear in the D2Football.com Top 25, while West Chester and LIU Post are ranked No. 13 and No. 17, respectfully. The Chargers will play Stonehill on the road this Saturday before a home game against Saint Anselm and a season finale on the road against LIU Post. Prior to their showdown with New Haven, LIU Post will be on the road against Assumption and Southern Connecticut State. West Chester faces a tough test on the road against Kutztown this Saturday, before taking on Lock Haven and California University of Pennsylvania, or the PSAC Championship Game.
