Baseball Thunder Come up with Series Win over Fisher Cats by Diane Quail April 23, 2015 Arm & Hammer Park, home of the Trenton Thunder. (Photo by Catalina Fragoso) The Trenton Thunder won the series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Cats 2-1. The go ahead run came off the bat of Cito Culver in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Thunder scored first in the bottom of the second when Mason Williams drove in Taylor Dugas off a sacrifice fly to center. In another strong outing, Taylor Garrison took the no-decision and lowered his ERA to 1.88. Garrison allowed just one run on five hits and one walk in his third start this season. The three game series with the Fisher Cats started with a 10-0 loss Monday night. The Fisher Cats and Thunder were tied at 0 until the Fisher Cats scored seven runs off relievers Caleb Cotham and Andury Acevedo. Thunder starter, Brady Lail took the no-decision throwing 5.1 scoreless innings allowing just five hits and no walks. However, the Thunder came up on top in Tuesday night’s outing. The Thunder defeated the Fisher Cats 4-3 with the big hit coming from Greg Bird. After giving up an early 2-0 lead, Eric Jagielo tied the game in the bottom of first with a two run homer. The game remained tied at two In the fifth inning, Bird hit a one out double to right center scoring right fielder Aaron Judge making it 3-2 Thunder. In the sixth inning, Jose Rosario hit an RBI double scoring Cito Culve giving the Thunder the extra run that they ultimately needed after the Fisher Cats scored in the top of the ninth. Third baseman Eric Jagielo finished the home stand with a .360 batting average including a triple a homer and seven RBIs. The Thunder begin a seven-game road trip to Portland and New Hampshire Thursday night and will be back home May 1st to take on Akron.
