Other Sports Thunder Spoil Banuelos Effort! by Staff Post May 18, 2011 The Trenton Thunder spoiled an outstanding pitching effort by Manny Banuelos to drop the opener against the Erie Seawolves 1-0 last night. Banuelos pitched six scoreless innings, striking out seven and giving up only two hits. Josh Schimdt came on in the bottom of the seventh and gave up the only run in the game. Schimdt walked the first batter Bryan Pounds then struck out the next batter. But Schimdt then uncorked two wild pitches allowing Pounds to advance to third before giving up the game winning RBI to Erie’s catcher Bryan Holaday who lined a single to center field. The Thunder had their chances throughout the game leaving ten men on base, but never getting the key hit when they needed it. The Thunder who fell to (20-18) with the loss, suffered the team’s second loss with Banuelos on the mound in seven tries. Schimdt lost his second straight game giving up late runs in games.
