Thunder Thrown a Curve! Comeback Falls Short

The Trenton Thunder (31-20) were thrown a curve by the Altoona Curve (27-24) Tuesday night losing 2-1 in another attempt to fashion a late inning comeback win in which the team has been accustomed to of late. Last night was the opener of a three game set against the Curve at Waterfront Park.

The defending champion Curve held the Thunder scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning, When the Thunder losing 2-0 when Cody Johnson and Bradley Suttle doubled to lead off the inning. With the score 2-1 Curve, closer Noah Krol shut the door on the Thunder to give Trenton their second loss in the last thirteen games.

Thunder pitcher Craig Heyer was tagged with the loss, his third of the season against four wins. Heyer only gave up two runs in the six innings he pitched. The Thunder finished the Month of May with a 21-8 record just two wins shy of the franchise record.

Manny Banuelos (2-0, 2.16) on the hill for the Thunder for the educational day matinee starting at 10:35 am.

Thunder pitcher Shaeffer Hall was named Eastern League pitcher of the week ending May 30.

The Thunder will receive C Ryan Baker from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and put pitcher Warner Madrigal on the 7 Day Disabled List.
