Other Sports Thunder Win Again: Take Four of Five From Portland by Staff Post May 31, 2011 The Trenton Thunder won their seventh out of eight games on this last road trip that started last Tuesday with a sweep in reading and taking four out of five here in Portland. Overall the Thunder is 21-7 in the month of May. The Thunder (31-19) was behind the Seadogs(14-33) 3-0 until the top of the fourth Inning,when Cody Johnson hit his third home run of the series a solo shot to cut the deficit to 3-1. It was Johnson’s fourth HR of the road trip and ninth of the year. In the fifth inning the Thunder continued to chip away at the Seadogs with a Austin Romine RBI single with two outs again seeming to be the Thunders way of doing things lately. Romine’s RBI cut the Seadog lead to 3-2. The Thunder with one out and the bases loaded in the seventh inning Cody Johnson again delivered with a double off the right field wall scoring two runs and giving Trenton their first lead of the game 4-3. Jose Gil then followed his very own two run double in left field giving the Thunder a 6-4 lead. The Seadogs scored another run but Josh Schmidt came in to close the door earning his sixth save of the season preserving the 6-4 Thunder victory. The Thunder come home too some home cooking Tuesday to start a three game set with the Altoona Curve. Thunder Claps The Thunder start a three game set with the Altoona Curve at Waterfront Park at 7:05 pm tonight. Tune-In to all the action with WTSR-FM 93.1. The win leaves Trenton 3 games back in second place behind the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, The Fisher Cats are in town this weekend for a big three game set.
