Other Sports Thunder Win Fifth Straight Series! by Staff Post May 16, 2011 Another large crowd witnessed a ninth inning comeback by the Thunder (20-17) who scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Binghamton Mets (13-21) 3-2 to take three games out of the four game set. Through eight innings of play Binghamton pitchers strong armed the Thunder to no runs on three hits and the Mets held a 2-0 lead. But that all changed in the bottom of the ninth when Jose Gil and Melky Mesa led off the inning with back to back doubles. That cut the Mets lead to 2-1. A Jose Pirela sacrifice moved Mesa to third then Ray Kruml grounded out followed by a Addison Maruszak walk. With runners at the corners and two outs Austin Krum lined the first offering by Mets pitcher Erik Turgeon of the wall in right field scoring both Mesa and Maruszak and securing the 3-2 victory. The Thunder are off monday before opening a three game set on Tuesday against the Erie Seawolves . Thunder Claps Manny Banuelos is slated to start Tuesday night against Erie. Manny is 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA. Erie is the Detroit Tigers Double-A affiliate. The Thunder will face Casey Crosby LHP (1-2 2.77) from Erie on Tuesday. Thunder Pitcher Tim Norton {1-0 1.93) recorded his first win of the season last night.
