Tough Decisions Ahead for Mets and Alderson

For the second year in a row, Sandy Alderson must be the hero the New York Mets need, and the hero they deserve.

The GM has been through alot over the past two years, both on and off the field.

But now Sandy must continue to overcome adversity and find another way to create some magic at the plate for the Amazins.

Last year, Yoenis Cespedes was the straw that stirred the drink. All be it at the expense of Michael Fulmer, who is having an outstanding rookie year with the Tigers.

The Mets farm system is running short of expendable studs like Fulmer, however spending a few extra bucks could be another way to solve the problem, and the budget might be opening up soon.

David Wright is due $20 million a year until 2020, however, once Wright misses 60 days due to injury, which it appears he will, the Mets get 75% of his contract recouped via insurance.

So if you can take one positive from the captain’s injury, it’s that the Mets might be willing to spend a little more at the deadline knowing that a large percentage of Wright’s salary will be coming off the books in 60 days.

Still another month until the baseball trade deadline heats up, but the Mets need to be in the market for a bat to stabilize that lineup, and take some pressure of Cespedes in October.
