Carmelo Anthony

Just last week, Houston Rockets Center Nene posted a picture of Carmelo Anthony wearing a Rockets uniform. Since then, trade talks between the Knicks and the Rockets have escalated before coming to a standstill. In an attempt to make a run at Anthony given the current trade climate, C.J. McCollum of the Portland Trailblazers mirrored Nene’s antics and posted a picture of Anthony in a Trailblazers’ uniform on Sunday night.

The Trailblazers didn’t come out of left field on this one. With the Knicks denying an Anthony for Ryan Anderson trade, a third team had to be roped in to help get a deal done. That team was slated to either be the Trailblazers or the New Orleans Pelicans. McCollum’s message seems pretty clear. He doesn’t want Portland to be the middle man that helps the Rockets vault to the top of the Western Conference. McCollum, his teammates and probably every Trailblazers fan out there is hoping for a deal that lands Anthony in Portland.

With several weeks left in the offseason, it’s likely that the Trailblazers will try to complete a trade for Anthony in the days to come. As far as the Rockets are concerned their deal with New York isn’t dead just yet.  Anthony is reportedly still anticipating a move to Houston that will team him up with good friend Chris Paul and MVP runner up James Harden. Of course the Knicks can still try to keep Anthony playing in the Garden, but at this stage of the game it seems like a trade is imminent. Knicks fans may still end up Melo-less next season. Don’t count out the Cleveland Cavaliers, either. When the Knicks take the court for the start of the regular season this October, Anthony could be playing in Cleveland, Houston or even 3,000 miles away in Portland.
