Two Pitchers Promoted From Staten Island Yankees

The Staten Island Yankees seem to have turn their season around. They have been able to turn it up during the month of July, after a really cold start to the season. The key behind their hot streak has been mainly because of their pitching staff that has been nothing short than amazing!

Considering that the starting rotation has a combined 81.2 innings, striking out 67 batters and 35 walks given, with a 1.77 combined ERA.

Roansy Contreras has led the team in five starts, he has struck out 32 batters and has a 1.26 ERA which earned him a promotion to the Charleston RiverDogs, the Class-A affiliate for the New York Yankees. He will be joined by RHP Daniel Alvarez, who last year was part of the starting rotation for the Staten Island Yanks but this year joined the team as part of the bullpen. This season as a reliever he posted a 1.93 ERA, struck out 28 batters and walked three in 14 innings of work which earned him the called up to Class-A.
