UFC 200: Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier looking to go to war

This Saturday, two of the fiercest rivals in UFC history square off. After months of back talk, Twitter wars, and other nonsense, Jon “Bones” Jones and Daniel Cormier will put it all on the line. There is a lot riding on this fight.  Jones and Cornier are not just fighting to become the legitimate UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, but to cement their legacies.

When you look at these two, you can clearly see the hatred they have towards one another. It isn’t a game or some publicity stunt. The UFC hosted an interview segment between the two and the hostility was there. Jones may have been smiling and both may have shown confidence, but on the inside they literally want to end one another.

For Jones, it is to right the ship after his suspension in 2015. His return at UFC 197 didn’t quite feel right, as he seemed off his game. To become the true Light Heavyweight Champion again and to shut down DC would take a huge monkey off of his back. Jones will look to test Daniel’s knee that required surgery. If he gets the advantage because of it then it could be game over.

Daniel Cormier is looking to prove something after their last fight together at UFC 182. In several Fox Sports 1 interviews, Cormier has stated he fights for his legacy, and to right a “wrong” (the loss). Coming off of an injury, DC will look to put aside all of the drama that has been going on. It’s like Cormier stated during the UFC 200 press conference: he is done talking about Jon Jones; he just wants to fight him.

July 4th might have come and gone, but the real fireworks begin in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena Saturday night. I hope this fight will be more of a challenge than their previous bout. I wouldn’t be worried, as these guys were made to create a masterpiece. Fans should expect an all out war, and I for one am excited. Legacies will be made, bodies will be broken and a chapter in this rivalry will come to an end. Where it goes from here is anyone’s guess.

No more distractions, no more doubt and no more waiting. Let’s get it on!
