Feature UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes Becomes New Main Event by Kristine Haugsjaa July 8, 2016 Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes (Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC) After a hectic 24-hours the UFC has, yet again, announced a new main event to UFC 200. UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Meisha Tate will have her first title defense against #4 ranked Amanda Nunes as the new main event to the biggest fight card in UFC history, Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. During last night’s UFC Fight Night 90: Dos Anjos vs Alvarez: Post-Fight Conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed the order change to the press, after announcing it on ESPN moments earlier. “Miesha is the woman who beat the woman who beat the woman. She’s the champ,” White said. “What she accomplished a few fights ago, you can’t disrespect that. She should be the main event. She deserves that.” This will be the first title defense for Tate since Strikeforce; Tate vs Rousey in 2012, and the first main-event PPV spot for both Tate and Nunes in their UFC careers. Updated Main Event Bout Order for Saturday Night: Main Event – Meisha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes (5 Rounds) Women’s Bantamweight Champion Co-Main Event – Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt (3 Rounds) Daniel Cormier vs. Anderson Silva (3 Rounds) Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar (5 Rounds) Interim Featherweight Champion Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne (3 Rounds) Post Views: 1,164 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Kristine Haugsjaa Kristine is a Managing Editor for DoubleGSports.com as well as UFC/MMA Lead Writer.
