MMA UFC 246: Attendance, Gate, Bonuses by Daniel Yanofsky January 19, 2020 It was indeed a Conor McGregor fight night, as all the stars came out for UFC 246. Inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the total attendance was 19,040. The gate was $11,089,129.30 as fans from all over watched Conor McGregor knock out Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds. Five fighters took Performance of the Night bonuses. Each fighter finished their fight while the others went the distance. There was no Fight of the Night honors. McGregor (22-4) was one of the first fighters to win the POTN bonus after using two shoulder shots to break the nose of “Cowboy” right when the fight started. A headkick and a ground and pound later and it was all over for Conor’s first win since 2016. Drew Dober opened up the prelims on ESPN, facing Nasrat Haqparast in a lightweight bout. He won the bout in the first round, knocking out Nasrat a minute into the first round. That was Dober’s (22-9, 1NC) second win in a row, and is 5-1 in his last six. https://twitter.com/espnmma/status/1218703668607967233?s=20 The rest of the bouts were featured on the main card. Opening up UFC 246 was Carlos Diego Ferreira defeating Anthony Pettis via submission. Ferreira (17-2) dominated Pettis on the ground, submitting him in the second round with a neck crank. It was his first submission win since 2014 and his sixth win in a row. Long Island’s Brian Kelleher needed only the first round to submit Ode Osbourne. A last-minute spot on the main card, Kelleher (20-10) took Osbourne down right away and submitted him with a guillotine choke, one that required Osbourne to tap with his feet. This is his first win since 2018. Finally, the old school Aleksei Oleinik beat a young fighter in Maurice Greene via submission. With multiple takedowns, Oleinik (58-13-1) managed to slip in an armbar submission to take out a tired Greene. That was his 46th-career win via submission. Following the fight, Oleinik tapped the rear of Greene, signifying the end of the fight. He is the first fighter to win MMA fights in four different decades. https://twitter.com/ufc/status/1218750637921443840?s=20 Post Views: 1,023 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc.
