MMA UFC Fight Night in Manila Cancelled by Kristine Haugsjaa October 6, 2016 Photo Credit: MMAweekly.com Well, this is unfortunate. After being unable to find a replacement for BJ Penn who had to withdraw from the Oct 15th main event due to injury only days ago, the UFC has decided to cancel the card all together. The card was scheduled to stream live from Manila, Philippines fully on UFC Fight Pass next Saturday featuring Penn versus Ricardo Lamas as the main event. The promotion released a statement on UFC.com shortly after the news spread: “Athletes scheduled to compete on the Oct. 15 card will be rebooked at upcoming UFC events in the near future. Each athlete set to compete on Oct. 15 will also receive compensation due to the card being rescheduled. With its 2016 calendar finalized, UFC officials will discuss future dates for the event.” I can’t imagine being a fighter finding this out just as their camps are finishing up. After losing the main event, was cancelling the card all together the right call?
