MMA UFC returns to Madison Square Garden in November for UFC 230 Another UFC card is heading to Madison Square Garden. Will you be emptying the bank for some MMA action? by Daniel Yanofsky July 8, 2018 Can the UFC go three-for-three inside Madison Square Garden? We are about to find out, as the company announced their return to The World’s Most Famous Arena on November 3. The event will be UFC 230. During the UFC 226 prelims on FS1 last night, the UFC presented it’s remaining schedule for 2018. In the middle, clear as day, was the NYC announcement. Ever since MMA was legalized in New York, the UFC has done whatever it can to make their events memorable. There are times when they succeed (UFC 205) and times when they don’t (UFC 208). One thing is certain: the shows are always entertaining. The last time the UFC came to MSG was UFC 217, an event that had arguably the best main card in UFC history. During that time, there were three classic upsets: Rose Namajunas knocking out Joanna Jedrzejczyk, T.J. Dillashaw knocking out Cody Garbrandt and Georges St-Pierre taking out Michael Bisping in his return to the UFC. What fights will take place this time? We are all but guaranteed a few title fights. With The Ultimate Fighter 28 featuring Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum as coaches, we could see the championship fight between the two take place there. This will leave New York’s Chris Weidman without a planned fight, unless something changes. Maybe the UFC already has an opponent in mind for Weidman. Ticket information for UFC 230 has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for more info.
