Ric Flair (Credit: Buzzfeed)

Over the past few days, there have been conflicting reports regarding the health of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. After a scare which resulted in him being in a coma, Flair underwent surgery, but many didn’t know yet what for. At first thought as a heart issue, the issue appears to have resulted from his past.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Flair underwent colon surgery yesterday to remove a blockage. While successful, Flair is not out of the woods yet. Ric’s fiance, Wendy Barlow, announced that he is still in critical condition. Flair is currently on dialysis to restore his kidneys. Years of the wrestling and the party lifestyle seems to have been a huge contributor to all of this. Flair actually spoke to Sports Illustrated a few days before this whole fiasco. In the interview, he discussed alcohol as a lead cause of all of his problems over the years. He stated:

“I had one vice. I’m not going to point my finger at anybody else. My vice was drinking. I didn’t have any pain issues, addiction problems, marijuana, cocaine, nothing like that. It’s a fact that I kept myself up all night and always had a good time.”

We were all set to find that out sometime thanks to the upcoming 30 for 30 documentary regarding Flair.

A legend in the world of pro wrestling, Ric Flair has been receiving warm wishes from all over the world. The man has helped breed the very best in pro wrestling today. As a result, Flair is considered a mentor and close friend by many. Besides his daughter Charlotte, all wrestlers perfected their craft in order to be as good as Flair.

Just like all of his opponents, Ric won’t submit to death without a fight. We here at Double G Sports are hoping, like everyone else, that Flair can pull out of this and get the win. We will keep you posted with any helpful information that we hear.
