Lucas Duda – New York Mets (New York Daily News)

The road to Panic City is fast approaching for the New York Mets. It wasn’t long ago that the team had plenty of depth before the season started. Now, the Mets could use all the help they could get. Earlier today, the team made a few roster moves that involved several key members.

The Mets sent out a press release with all the information you need:

To start things off, David Wright was moved to the 60-Day DL. Today, Lucas Duda was transferred to the 10-Day Disabled List along with Wilmer Flores. Duda went down with a hyperextended left elbow, while Flores has been dealing with a right knee infection.

Catcher Travis d’Arnaud is considered day-to-day after a right wrist contusion he suffered on Wednesday. Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes may miss the entire series against the Nationals thanks to a strained left hamstring. Both batters can be used for a pinch-hitting role if available. Finally, in what has been a weird couple of hours, Jacob deGrom was scratched from today’s game for Matt Harvey. deGrom was suffering from a stiff neck, but the Mets are hoping he can still start on Saturday.

With all of these moves, the New York Mets were required to bring people up. They called up infielder T.J. Rivera and pitcher Sean Gilmartin. As you saw in today’s game, the Mets were shorthanded on the bench to go along with a tired bullpen. Although its only the first month of the season, its not a good look for the team.

In only a few short weeks the Mets’ roster has been significantly damaged. Manager Terry Collins will have a lot of work to do to maneuver through this mess. The cavalry is not that far behind, but they are needed now more than ever.
