College Villanova Remains Unbeaten in the Big East by Renee Washington January 8, 2016 Villanova moves to 13-2 overall, 3-0 in the Big East after defeating Seton Hall 72-63 last night. Senior Daniel Ochefu led the Wildcats with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Fellow classmate and captain Ryan Arcidiacono added 11 points. Despite early foul trouble, junior Josh Hart finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. It was an off shooting night for the Wildcats, but their defense got them through as it has many games before. The No. 11 Wildcats held the Pirates to .356 shooting from the perimeter, but on the offensive end only went 21-of-58 (.362) from the floor and just 4-of-22 from beyond the arc (.182). It was a much different night from the first two conference wins, in which Villanova shot over 60 percent in field goal percentage. In the first half, the Wildcats only scored 2-of-14 shots beyond the arc. Junior Kris Jenkins scored three point shots to help increase the lead to eight with 4:23 left to play in the half. The Wildcats led 30-23 at the half and scored the first six points of the second half to take a 38-28 lead. The Pirates responded with a 12-4 run. Isaiah Whitehead and Khadeen Carrington, who finished with 20 and 14 points, respectively, led the run. Villanova kept the lead to take a 67-52 with 2:52 left. Seton Hall had one last run, but it wasn’t enough as Villanova won 72-63. Up next the Wildcats hopes to hold on to their undefeated conference record as they face Butler on Sunday evening at Hinkle Fieldhouse (7:30 p.m./FS1 and 610 Sports Radio WTEL).
