MMA Villante vs. Rogerio de Lima off of UFC 205 by Kristine Haugsjaa September 21, 2016 Photo Credit: themmacorner.com Another Long Islander is off of the Madison Square Garden fight card on November 12th. I’m going to need some Xanax if this trend continues. MMAFighting.com reported Wednesday morning that #15 ranked Light Heavyweight Gian Villante had to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Marcos Rogerio de Lima at UFC 205 due to a minor injury. Details are still developing although they reported the injury isn’t career damaging. Ariel Hewlani tweeted out shorty after the article was posted that former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman is among the list of New Yorker’s not featured on the card. Whether that is due to awaiting contract signatures or a developing story is to be determined. Villante is the second New Yorker to withdraw from the home town card. UFC Lightweight Al Iaquinta withdrew earlier this week due to a contract rift with the promotion.
