MMA War in the City of Brotherly Love: Edson Barboza v. Justin Gaethje set for UFC Philly Two dominant fighters are set to face off in a lightweight bout to remember. by Daniel Yanofsky January 30, 2019 In one of the biggest sports cities in the world, two of the top fighters the UFC have to offer will face off inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Edson Barboza is scheduled to face Justin Gaethje in a lightweight main event. After defeating Dan Hooker back in December via knockout, Barboza (20-6) is looking to go for his second win in a row. Barboza has faced and defeated some of the most dominant fighters in the stacked division, including Gilbert Melendez, Anthony Pettis and Paul Felder. With twelve wins via KO, Barboza has numerous performance bonuses as a fighter. A former World Series of Fighting Lightweight Champion, Justin Gaethje (19-2) is also on a one-fight win streak, knocking out James Vick back in August. He rebounded after losing two hard-fought contests to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. The 30-year-old has sixteen wins via KO and was the premier athlete while with the WSOF. Already announced for UFC Philly is Michelle Waterson v. Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The event takes place on March 30th and tickets are on sale now.
