WATCH: Endy Chavez Takes Me Through “The Catch”

Endy Chavez is a name familiar to just about every Mets fan that was alive during the 2006 NLCS. The reason for that, “The Catch”.

With the score tied in the 6th and a runner on first, the first pitch that Scott Rolen sees from left-handed reliever Oliver Perez, crushed to deep left field. You can guess what happens next.

Its been over 11 years since the catch. Endy Chavez, now 40, who finished his MLB career as a .270 hitter is playing for the Somerset Patriots in the Atlantic League, the premier Independent Baseball League. I met with Endy in Somerset, New Jersey and sat down with him to talk some baseball, and of course the highlight of his career, “The Catch”
