Watching History at Monmouth Park #AmericanPharoah

This weekend Monmouth Park hosted a private party for those who wished to watch American Pharoah make a run for the Triple Crown.  Fans were able to watch the races on the big screens that are set up throughout the William Hill Race Book.  Those in attendance cheered on as American Pharoah galloped to victory to complete the third leg of the Triple Crown, at the Belmont Stakes.  It was awesome to be in attendance with other spectators who watched history in the making.  Many are hoping that this victory will revive horse racing and bring it back into the public’s eye.

Of course, as many experts compare horse racing of today to what it was years ago, it’s important to remember that years ago we did not have so many options.  Ratings of yesterday cannot really be compared to ratings of today, because it’s just a different world.  There used to be a somewhat captive audience, but nowadays there are so many choices.  It’s not necessarily that horse racing has lost its luster, as opposed to there are just so many channels, and it’s difficult to know what’s on.

There’s something to be said for spending a day at the races.  Time to put the cell phones down, and head out to Monmouth Park, to catch a race, enjoy some food, and just chill.  With any luck, maybe sports betting will become legal, and we’ll have something more to celebrate!
