What Does the Future Hold For Sky Blue? by Paola Garcia Cardenas June 21, 2018 Orlando, FL (June 16, 2018) – Half way through this 2018 NWSL season, Sky Blue FC (0-9-2, 2 points) remains winless, this time falling to the Orlando Pride (5-3-4, 19 points) on the road during week 12. They are now tied with Seattle Reign (2013) for the longest winless streak to start the season. It is no surprise that the league could be quite unpredictable; week in and week out we have seen a lot of movement in the rankings. However, with only two points on the board, one would wonder what the future will hold for Sky Blue FC.What The Future Holds For Sky BlueSince the beginning of the season and particularly in the past couple of months, Sky Blue has been announcing numerous transactions within the team. The most recent being the exit of assistant coach David Hodgson from the NJ team, after almost two seasons. Sources mention disagreements between Hodgson and head coach, Denise Reddy as the main cause. One of the best, absolute legend. Learned so much from Dave and at the same time became a close friend, a great guy with a huge amount to offer the game. https://t.co/EoBx5Ej4XS— Paul Greig (@paulgreig6) June 19, 2018The recent signing of Imani Dorsey seemed to have worked well for the rookie, who was the architect of the entire play from the midfield and ended in favor of Sky Blue on the 1-1 equalizer against Orlando Pride. Hopefully, we continue to see more and more of what Dorsey is capable of contributing to the team, for the remaining of this season.Dorsey steps in with a big interception, and McCaskill provides the equalizer for @SkyBlueFC!#ORLvNJ | #NWSL pic.twitter.com/FhhKjaCZK1— NWSL (@NWSL) June 16, 2018A fight for a championship spot is a thing of the past for Sky Blue. At least for this 2018 season.Ultimately, it all comes down to Sky Blue FC switching their focus to fight for more team cohesion and to build from their promising young roster that is available now. There is plenty of individual talent that has not found each other on the same page on the field. And the few times the players have shown chemistry, we have seen positive results. It will take time, but this group may have a better chance in 2019.NWSL Week 14Sky Blue continues their road appearances. This time visiting the Portland Thorns at Provindence Park, in Portland, OR. The match will be on Wednesday, June 27. It is set to kickoff at 10:30 pm ET. You can stream it live on go90.
