Football Why The Giants Are Still A Good Bet in the NFC East by Guest September 25, 2018 The G-Men got their first win of the season against the Texans this weekend after losing to the Jaguars and Cowboys in the first two weeks. The season has not started in an ideal way for New York, but this division is wider open than it may seem to those looking at the standings there are plenty of opportunities to bet on this NFL team as the season has just started. The Rest of the Division The rest of this division certainly has plenty of question marks. The Eagles look far from dominant, even though they’re the overwhelming favorite to win the division. It was Wentz’s first week back, but it’s clear he’s extremely rusty and may not be the same player (not just for the next few weeks, but all year) coming off two major ligament tears. It’s tough to view the Redskins as a true contender when they’ve made no serious changes on their roster since last season and arguably downgraded at quarterback. And, the Cowboys, well, they’re a mess. The Giants face the Saints this coming week, a game where they are +3.5 underdogs at home, but I think this one is undoubtedly winnable for them. New Orleans is coming off a tough divisional game against Atlanta last week and have notorious home/road splits, regardless. NFC East Divisional Odds At SportsBetting.ag, the Giants are still in the divisional race, but their odds are now much longer than they were at the start of the season, which was around +500. As we head into Week 4, here are the odds to win the NFC East: Divisional Futures – Odds to Win NFC East Philadelphia Eagles -210 Washington Redskins +450 Dallas Cowboys +700 New York Giants +750 The price is much better now that the Giants are sitting at 1-2. However, if they can get through the next few weeks of their schedule and manage to 2-1 against the Saints, Panthers, and Eagles – things get a lot easier. Eli Manning is the clear weak link on the offense, but there is enough talent surrounding him that they are going to score regardless of who is under center. Quietly, the Giants’ defense has also done a tremendous job. They haven’t allowed any team to score over 22 points through the first three weeks of the year. With so many question marks surrounding other teams in this division and the evident talent that the Giants have on the offensive side of the ball – I feel they are massively undervalued. No team can match their offensive firepower and so far, their defense has been the best in the NFC East. Let’s also consider the significant jump in value we are getting as just a few weeks ago the Giants were +500 to win the division. Now, they sit at +750, last in the minds of the sportsbooks. This seems like an overreaction to the first three weeks of play and the market not valuing their talent correctly. I think there is an excellent chance they still win this division, as many issues are surrounding the other teams in the division.
