Football WINNER$ – NFL WEEK 10 by Jared Smith November 11, 2016 Well it was bound to happen eventually, our first losing week, and two of the worst beats you could ever ask for. The Jets took a 23-20 lead in the 4th quarter in Miami, but an offsides penalty on the ensuing kickoff led to a special teams blunder. The Dolphins took the following kick back for a touchdown and we lost our bet by a half-point. Brutal. Meanwhile a little closer to home, the Eagles passed on three field goals inside the 40, opting to go for it on 4th down all 3 times. If they would have kicked just once, we would have covered the 2.5. Oh well, that’s gambling. Thank goodness the Raiders saved us on Sunday night as Derek Carr continues to cement his status as a rising star in the NFL. Our suicide pick also hit as the Chiefs held off a late Jags rally to win a much closer game then expected. Here are the numbers…. Week 8 Recap: Jets +3.5 (Loss), Eagles +2.5 (Loss), Raiders -1.5 (Win) Week 7 Record: 1-2 2016 Season Record: 5-4 Week 9 NFL WINNER$: RAMS +2 at Jets It’s fade-city for the Jets from here on out. Their quarterback situation is a mess with Ryan Fitzpatrick only taking the half the first-team reps this week in practice because of his sprained MCL. Overall this is a team in chaos, and they might lose every game the rest of the season. It’s time to give Bryce Petty a chance. GIANTS +1.5 vs. Bengals This one should be fun on Monday night in the Big Apple. Two of the best WRs in the game going head-to-head. I think AJ Green will give the Giants improved secondary problems, but the same can be said for Odell Beckham. Eli makes one more play then Andy Dalton does, and the Giants front seven holds up late. Giants win a squeaker. **BEST BET ALERT** 2 TEAM 6-POINT TEASER CHIEFS +9 at Panthers PATRIOTS -1.5 vs. Seahawks Why bet on one team when you can pick two? Haha. This is a degenerate best-bet but it’s a lock. The Chiefs have won 17 of their last 20 games and after the tease, will be getting 9 against a Panthers team that still has a Super Bowl hangover 10 months later. Meanwhile New England is coming off the bye and catching a Seahawks squad on a short week traveling across the country. Suicide Pick of the Week: CARDINALS over 49ers The real suicide pick of the week was Thursday night’s game with the Ravens easily handling the Browns, but since this column comes out on a Friday, i’ll give you one for the weekend as well. I don’t think this game will be as big of a blowout as the 14-point spread, but the Cardinals should easily handle business at home against a reeling 49ers team.
